H-SERIES COMPETITION FAQS

We cater our H-Series competition to run in Summer and Winter. Please see below information specific to the competition.

SUMMER H-SERIES(term 1 & 4)

WHAT IS IT?

A 10 week competition for the off season, run in terms 1 and 4 each year (each term is an independent competition which means you can play one or both seasons - whichever suits you best!). Teams are a mix of social and competitive and are grouped appropriately where numbers permit.

Like all Highfields competitions, teams can include both male and female players.

For U12s, in accordance with Netball Australia guidelines, there are no rules regarding the ratio boys/girls.

For ages 13 and up, the only restriction is no more than 3 male players on court at a time and, where possible, they should be spread through positions in each 3rd. (Eg One male in either GS/GA, one in C/WA or WD and one in GK/GD).

If you have a team of male players all desperate to play together please contact Megan via Hseriescoord@outlook.com to see if there is a suitable division for them, as, at Highfields and Districts Netball, we will always try to accommodate players as much as possible.

what are the rules with uniforms?

In order to reduce costs and provide an inclusive experience, uniforms are optional. Netball safe clothing and footwear is required and teams are encouraged to choose a colour theme where possible. Over shoulder bibs are provided for game day and training bibs are available to coaches during the week. Any teams wanting to organise traditional netball uniforms can contact H-series coordinator – Megan Bartlett-Horne Hseriescoord@outlook.com for assistance if required.

how much does it cost to play?

$100 per player.

This includes the Netball Queensland short comp membership (10 weeks or less) which has increased this year to $50. The competition fee of $50 covers umpire payments, electricity costs, equipment (match balls and bibs provided) purchase and maintenance, admin costs and consumables.

***Note – the Netball Queensland annual fee has increased this year to $95.50. The increase is due to a significant drop in federal and state funding. This fee is a once a year total regardless of how much netball you play. So if you have paid $50 summer NQ registration and then decide to play in the winter comp or term 4 summer comp, you will only be charged an additional $45.50 (you should never pay more than $95.50 for the whole year regardless of how many competitions you play in). The NQ fee is not set nor received by HDNA and is a requirement to participate in any of our netball competitions.

WHAT IS IT?

A 14 week (including finals) competition for female and male players 7 years and up held in terms 2 and 3 (excluding Jun/Jul school holidays).

Participating in the winter H-series includes access to our weekly skills sessions (day/time tba) aimed at providing additional skills development and fitness to any interested players. Skills session information will be provided to all registered players prior to the commencement of the competition.

The aim of H-series is to improve grassroots level netball and this achieved through skills development and coach/umpire mentoring programs (opt in). To ensure maximum participation and engagement all teams will play in the finals series with non grand final teams playing off for final positions on Grand Final Day.
